Vital Energi has an ambitious, yet realistic plan to increase turnover fivefold by 2012. To achieve this, we require talented people to join our ever increasing team and in return we can offer excellent career prospects as no project is ever the same, ranging from nationally recognised sporting arenas to major city regeneration with project values ranging from £250k to £15 million.

We currently have a requirement for a Contracts Manager based in the North West with regional responsibilities.

To lead, develop and mentor a team of project engineering staff as well as co-ordinate all operational projects on site whilst liaising with office based departments, including design and commercial to ensure the following objectives are met.

The successful and timely delivery of all projects under your responsibility to meet both client and company quality standards whilst ensuring that all legitimate, health and safety environmental and design standards are met within the company cost targets.

Tasks to be undertaken:

  • Lead, mentor and develop project engineering staff
Ensure satisfactory compliance with current company quality management systems
  • Responsible for ensuring that all engineers and operatives meet both company and current regulatory compliance and health and safety requirements are met
  • Operational responsibility of all live contracts with a hands on approach
  • To develop systems and procedures in relation to projects
  • Provide vital support and reports to directors
  • Responsible for all recruitment and training engineering and operatives in your function
  • The budget holder for project costs
  • Deliver completed projects within requirements
  • General:

    • Proven leadership and development of staff
    • Self motivated individual with strong initiatives
    • Able to demonstrate sound commercial and contractual awareness
    • An accomplished construction manager with the ability to manage numerous £5 - £10 million live contracts

    Specific:

    • Ideally relevant degree qualified and preferably a chartered engineer
    • Several years experience for a consultancy engineering company
    • Must have commercial experience
    • Excellent knowledge and experience with Plant rooms and Energy Centres
    • Must have experience managing large commercial projects, working to exact brief, economically control costs
    • Must have mechanical engineering background

    Based at the head office in Blackburn , responsible for Midlands & North.
