As a leading turnkey engineering contractor, we design, install, operate and maintain environmentally friendly energy generation centers and the distribution infrastructure, mainly for new build, in the public/private residential, retail and commercial sectors throughout the UK and Ireland. We work with some of the UK's most respected Property Developers and the top 20 construction companies as well as the UK's leading energy utilities companies.

Vital Energi has an ambitious, yet realistic plan to increase turnover fivefold by 2012. To achieve this, we require talented people to join our ever increasing team and in return we can offer excellent career prospects as no project is ever the same, ranging from nationally recognised sporting arenas to major city regeneration with project values ranging from £250k to £15 million.

Due to an increase in the demand for District Heating Schemes throughout the UK, we now need to recruit a Senior M&E Project Engineer.

The position will be predominantly site based and will not be confined to a particular geographical location.

His / Her duties will include: -

*All duties and responsibilities defined under the job description for the project engineer.
*The provision of full support to the on site operational staff.
*Be fully conversant with the objectives / obligations of the contract and/or project and their role in ensuring that these are achieved.
*Take lead control of small to medium contracts
*Attend project hand over meetings with the project senior management teams and agree delegation hierarchy.
*Allocate suitable engineering resources to match specific project needs.
*Co-ordinate together with the quantity surveyor procurements schedules defined at hand over and over-see the site management of them.
*Construct utilising available contract resources detailed construction programmes for the projects they are in direct control of and agree them with both the senior management team and the client.
*Compile a risk register for each contract and ensure that the risk are managed as to mitigate as much as possible to the company.
*Ensuring that a suitable health, safety and environmental plan is produced and approved prior to project commencement.
*Agree target costs for particular areas of contracts and monitor against these with the site-based team.
*Assist in the production of project overview information and attend client tenants meeting.
*Analyse financial costs and target costs with the project quantity surveyor and provide forecast statements for review by the senior management team.
*Review site documentation on a weekly basis to ensure compliance with current procedures.
*Analysing weekly tracking programmes to ensure that project targets in relation outputs are been achieved.
*Identifying shortfalls within the project team and implementing changes to alleviate / minimise the impact of such discrepancies.
*Liaison with clients on a day-to-day basis to ensure a full understanding of their requirements while maintaining Vital Energi's contractual obligations.
*Assist in the preparation sub contract procurement packages by the quantity surveyor and evaluation as to suitability on their return.
*Ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the employers' requirements and are fit for purpose.
*Evaluate the scope of the project and asses any valued engineering possibilities that may be applied to enhance the overall project objectives.
*Co-ordinate multi discipline projects to ensure that information is obtained in a planned manner which will match the construction programme.
*Attend site progress meetings and provide support to the site based operational staff to ensure clear requirements are identified to achieve the project objectives.
*Liase with external parties to ensure full integration with the project team to achieve a common goal.
*Provide project performance feed back to the senior management team to allow future market strategies to be identified and tender allowances to be enhanced.
*Attend contract post mortems to evaluate original project objectives which were set by the company have been met for the purpose of continual improvement / key performance indicators.
*Review on a continual basis the health and safety documentation / requirements for the project and ensure that all areas area met to provide a safe environment for all personnel associated with the works.
*Review and sign off, prior to issuing to the employer the operation and maintenance manual for the project.
*Carry out periodic quality inspections of the systems utilised by the site based construction team to ensure that high standards are maintained on the project.
*Liase with preferred suppliers and ensure that all new and revised technical information is communicated to all sub level staff.
*Liase with Vital Energi commercial staff to ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that appropriate authorities have been identified and communicated.
*Assist the project commercial team in identifying the final account for the project and obtaining agreement from the employer.
*Deputise for the Project Manager in their absence.
*All other duties and responsibilities that may be required to fulfil the obligations on Vital Energi in relation to the current contract he or she may be involved in and to ensure that all statutory obligations are meet in relation to health, safety and environmental.

We are looking for somone with a Building Services or M&E background. Civils background would not be suitable.
