Country Manager – Canada – Toronto
Systech International was established in 1991 and is recognised as a leading international consultant with offices in Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas. We provide our clients with full project lifecycle support offering contractual, commercial management, planning and scheduling,claims, expert witness, and dispute resolution services.
Due to continued growth in Canada we are now looking for an experienced individual who has an extensive grasp of the Canadian market to drive our expansion forward. Ideally you will be UK trained with a main contractor, with a proven ability to win work. This position will be reporting to the President of Americas and the Group MD. The position will be 80% Fee earning and based in Toronto, traveling and working throughout Canada during the week – primarily responsible for winning work and leading teams and building a sustainable Canadian business.
You must be MRICS or possess an equivalent qualification such as the CIOB, with a minimum of 10 years post professional qualification experience as a quantity surveyor or commercial manager. You will have a working knowledge of construction dispute resolution with a particular focus in adjudication, arbitration and litigation. Further Qualifications in Dispute Resolution, Arbitration or Adjudication will be a distinct advantage.
You will be a multifaceted individual with the following attributes and previous experience:
·Strong professional, academic qualifications (preferably a legal qualification)
·Major project experience
·Experience of giving expert testimony and preferably have been cross examined
·In depth knowledge of the arbitration, adjudication, mediation and preferably litigation processes
·Seminar and conference speaking experience
·Preparation of topical media and newsletter articles
·Be open to add their experience and knowledge to our expert panel
·Have the ability to effectively manage senior professional staff
·Contribute to Expert Witness reports and testimony
·Interpret and operate both standard form and bespoke contract procedures and mechanisms
·Preparation of Adjudication referral, response and reply documents and Arbitration statements of claim and defence
·Claim submission preparation, maintenance and defence, assisting with Cause and Effect Schedules and Commercial support and advice.
