Rail Business Unit Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the world’s largest risk and value management consultancies delivering project management, value management and risk and cost management services. During the past sixty years they have developed specialist skills in the infrastructure, property management, certification, specification and urban planning sectors.

Due to continued growth and development of their rail infrastructure business, they currently need to recruit a number of high calibre Managers who can lead Independent Verifier (IV) teams.

These roles are to (post project commitment):

·Review all design packages,

·Provide surveillance of all procurement and constructions activities,

·Surveillance of Commissioning

·Issue Completion Certificates,

·Track close-out of defects, (post Completion),

·Certify Monthly Progress payments,

·Review all Project Plans,

·Provide Quality auditing across full scope of the project.

The lead person will need to:

·Possess a relevant degree and ideally be chartered

·Ideally have worked on major infrastructure projects such as the Chep Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong, the Dubai Metro or the Taiwan High Speed Rail Project

·Have minimum 25 years experience in the project delivery (post commitment) of rail projects with relevant specialty in one of a) to e),

·Be able to effectively lead/manage a team of professional engineers across Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning

·Be calm under pressure (with Contractors and Government)

·Have some project knowledge/exposure to the IV role on similar projects (preferable)

·Ideally have worked some period of time in a sector of the Australian Rail Industry

·Have excellent traceable track record on similar projects

·Be available for the full duration of the project (3 to 4 years)

·Candidates will ideally be available to start work in Australia from Q2 of 2010.
