Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team within Defence services, providing engineering support for numerous ongoing contracts with the UK MOD to meet their requirements on deployed operations.
All candidates must hold a British Passport or resided in the UK for 5 years
This involves interpreting the clients brief to produce electrical services designs to support proposals and construction/installation programmes.Such electrical services include low voltage power systems, duty and standby power generation, lightening protection, lighting and control systems, fire detection systems and integration of all packages such as security systems and IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for design, validation, specification, selection and services relating to electrical equipment and systems
- Providing technical support to the Temporary Deployable Accommodation Post Design Services and CONLOG tasks.
- Production of conceptual electrical installation designs through to detailed construction designs, specifications and equipment selection, bills of materials and requisitioning.
- Performs equipment inspections on new equipment and conditioning reports on recovered deployed equipment.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements.
- Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
·Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in building services/electrical engineering.
- Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained professional.Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.
- Proven ability to demonstrate delivering project work.
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently using their own initiative or within a team.
In addition the role requires competent use of MS Office and it would be beneficial to be competent with design software packages such as Hevacomp, Cymap and AutoCAD.
