Hello Everyone - Hope your all well.
So has anyone done it on here ? ( 'The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course' before I get some witty site remarks back)
How hard is the course?
Basically Im looking into courses to attend to boost my CV.
Obviously, this course is the 'daddy' of all courses within the Construction Industry. So perhaps I'm aiming abit too high. I have a feeling I am.
I have my CSCS Card and a one day first aid course.
But I'm very ambitious and in today's market - things are hard, and to compete against all these other students I have to aim high and achieve the best.
I have looked into it an I couldn't find any requirements to do the course regarding experience, ect.
I'm willing to take the course dates off work and pay for it myself because I have a feeling in the long run it will be to my benefit however Im abit worried its a few steps too far and its a costly blow to fail.
So if anyone got any feedback or any other opinions what to do I would be extremely grateful.
Simon
Simon,
The SMSTS is an update course for those that have taken and got the site manager CSCS card, however if you have proof of some management experiance you would be beter of going for the NVQ4 site management as this is a superior qualification.
If you attain the level 4 you actualy have a higher qualifiaction and this opens a lot of doors to joining profeshional associations. it is also what is looked for when you see the words degree or equivilant. I have a lot of info on this but i will not post it on here. If you send me a private mail i will point you in the right direction on courses and costs as i know the best trainers in this area as i use them regualy. If you feel that the level 4 is a bit to advanced there are still some funded places for the level 3, again you will need to contact me to point you in the right place, the level 3 will get you a supervisor grade , but in reality the IOSH safe supervisor wold be the beter one to have as this has been done in conjunction with the UKCG.
If you wish to Simon go though my bio and you will find the link to my company website and my direct contact , i am always happy to help a man with ambitions.
Forced to be political , cos someone killed practical LONG LIVE PRACTICAL

Hi Simon!
Yeah, I also think passing an SMSTS will help in our very demanding and competitive time. Especially taking into account as they say that site management training is only a 5 day course and it gives you lot's of advantages.
