Another line on our government’s wonderful housing policy. This government has always told us that ‘mixed’ developments are the way forward, with social housing alongside private. Even though the policy does nothing to help the developer sell the house, quite the opposite in fact, though in boom times it was something you could live with. Now there’s going to be even more of this sort of thing with the government encouraging housing associations to buy up units for social housing. Some house builders are selling up but more fool them. When potential buyers of new build private homes realise that they will have hoodies, barking dogs, and burnt out cars for neighbours they are hardly going to sign on the dotted line. They will just stay put. The upshot being? The chances of recovery for the house building industry diminish even further.

The government needs to get over its fluffy pie in the sky dream that rich and poor can live happily together side by side, and both will be better for it. It is not reality, and it's going to do serious damage to their new homes target.

HCA has built more than 50,000 homes over past year ... Where?

Sir Bob said: “This is a tremendous result in terms of delivery and spend. We are grateful to all of our partners, RSLs , local authorities and house builders, in particular, for the part they have played in achieving this."

Or perhaps this one: Geeked

“With plenty of demand, but a dwindling supply, housing associations are the latest victims of the property cash. There's no shortage of demand for social housing but the credit crunch has created a serious shortage in supply.

Today the Homes and Communities Agency announced a change in rules making more government money available to housing associations - the latest victims of the property crash.”

I think that perhaps Sir Bob the builder is under the impression that all of our heads button up at the back?
